Our XTensions can help you inspect parts on a regular basis if you need to setup up parts vertically or have very large parts. XTensions are simple and inexpensive modular fixturing for CMMs. They are aluminum extrusions that are used along with the R&R fixtures components for building a setup vertically or creating a support structure to fixture a part. Setup is simple with minimal tools needed to produce a rigid and accurate fixture with unrestricted probe paths.

XTensions are available in lengths of up to 60" or longer to accommodate large parts. Once the upright XTensions have been mounted to a base plate, bracing options are added depending upon the height of the setup as well as cross supports. XTensions can also be used perpendicular to the main XTension supports for additional attachment points.
To make your largest parts more manageable, a fixture structure can be built using XTensions. Upright XTensions and fixturing components are then added to secure the part. Cross members can also be used to increase rigidity. The structure can remain configured for the duration of checking the part. When the structure is no longer needed, the XTensions and components can be reused. Fixture structures can be used in place of using large base plates for your largest parts. Using XTensions makes holding large parts more affordable.
Let us build a fixture or frame for holding your parts. Supply us with your part or CAD files and we will design and build a fixture so you're ready to start programming as soon as you receive it.
XTension kits come in both 1/4-20 and M8 and are available in different configurations depending on the size of your parts.

XTensions are available in standard lengths from 3" to 60" to accommodate parts vertically. Custom lengths are available if desired.

The aluminum extrusions are robust enough to hold large parts but lightweight enough to be manageable.

XTensions can be used with both English and metric components.
